Carnival Destiny

Carnival Destiny
The Carnival Destiny was launched in 1995 and was, when she entered service in 1996, was the largest passenger ship ever built and the first passenger ship larger than the RMS Queen Elizabeth which was built in the 1940's

The ship has had a couple of refrbishments, firstly in 2005, the ship had the restaurants, lounges improved with the extension of the duty free area and Spa. In 2010, many of the rooms received a new look and the outdoor televisions were added.

When you board the Carnival Destiny, the first thing that will strike you is the lobby. The lobby is a fantasy created from corrugated copper panels, Italian marble and onyx, and neon lighting and stretches 9 decks into the air, with glass fronted lifts taking guests up the walls of the lobby to their required floors, you know this is a taste of things to come with the rest of the ship.

The Carnival Destiny has something for everyone on board, why not take the glass lift up through the lobby to the Spa Deck, you will emerge into the sun. Up here there are the swimming pools but more importantly, the 214 foot water slide that will keep the children occupied for hours. For those who prefer things a little slower and quieter, you can always retreat to the card room for a gentle game of bridge or the well stocked library for some quiet solace.

Food
The Carnival Destiny has two main restaurants. The restaurants are twins called Universe and Galaxy and are two level dining rooms that can sit around 1,800 passengers per sitting spread over two sitting an evening. My tables within the restaurant will still have a stunning view of the sea, and there are a mixture of tables from a personal table for two, to a large table for meeting new friends.

For those not wanting to dine formally, why not visit the Sun & Sea, this is a self serve style buffet during the day, with an international feel, with the Trattoria, offering pastas and spagetti to the Happy Valley, an Asian restaurant serving Chinese dishes.

For Evenings, the Sun & Sea turns into a bistro with table service and a very impressive menu. The bistro also gives passengers the chance to relax as theres no dress code unlike the larger main restaurants.

If it's snacks you are after, there is always the 24-hour Pizzeria. This is located inside the Sun & Sea restaurant, and is open round the clock. You will experience the frshness of the pizza's and why not try a calzone, a type of snack much like a pizza, but is stuffed and folded in half, definately worth a try or for those wanting to relax in the most comfortable way, there is always the 24 hour room service, where you can order snacks or a complete meal from the restaurant menu.

Excercise

For those wanting to burn away those extra calories obtained whilst eating the fantastic food on board the Carnival Destiny, you will, need the gym. The gym on board is well appointed with plenty of machines including various excercise bikes, step machines and weights. You wont miss a thing either as you work out, as the gym has panoramic views of the sea. There are also fitness classes including aerobics, pilates or even yoga. The gym also has personal trainers to assist you in learning new machines or iindeed to create a fitness program to help you achieve life goals.

If your ideas are based on something less energetic, why not visit Spa Carnival. Your tired and Carnival. Treat yourself to a deep tissue massage whilst enjoying a peaceful and tranquil environment, or aching muscles deserve a full-body massage and the calming lull of a serene environment.

Some thrapies are at a added cost to your cruise package such as aromatherapy, hot stones or body wraps. Still, its your cruise, enjoy yourself. Dont forget, there are the swimming pools and the Nautica full circuit running track if your prefer to be outside.

Formal nights

On the Carnival Destiny, there is roughly one formal night a week. Carnival call these evenings elegant nights. Passengers will receive notice with their tickets and will find the elegant night is usually the second or third night into the cruise which is usually a day at sea. The male passengers wear dark suits with ties or a tux, while women will opten wear short dresses or cocktail skirts. If you do not want to dress up, you can dine in the buffet areas on the elegant night. Even on normal nights, the main rstaurants have a smart dress code, rather than jeans and t shirts.

Smoking

Cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.

Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz club.

Smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony. However, Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, will remain an entirely smoke-free environment.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their on board account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.
