Carnival Splendor

Carnival Splendor
The Carnival Splendor is the only ship in the Carnival fleet from the Splendor class and was launched in 2008.
The Splendor class of ships is a smaller version of the Costa Cruises Concordia class ship. This is because the ship was originally ordered for Costa Cruises, a subsuduary of The Carnival Corporation and owner of Carnival Cruises.
As you step inside the Carnival Splendor, you will notice the decorations. The Carnival fleet of ships carry a theme and you will find on board the Carnival Splendor, the theme is splendid things. You will soon pick up on some of the obvious designs that follow the theme an maybe some of the more hidden ones. Smile as you enter the gold pearl and black pearl restaurants, you just have to look at the work on the chandeliers which have sculpted strands of pearls reflecting the coulor of the room and the Pinnacle Supper club the theme is there. The ship carries a real sense of class and has plenty of unique lounges and spaces for passengers to enjoy. The Carnival Splendor, as with all Carnival ships, will amaze you with wide open spaces, the glass lifts all give such a feeling of freedom and space, you will suffer a small moment of puzzlement as your mind tries to understand that this is not a huge hotel, but actually your cruise ship. The feeling of space continues throughout the ship and through all the public spaces. Why not venture down to the Royal Flush casino for a little gamble or maybe go for a little light music, you can try out the cool jazz club. No matter what your personal choices are, you will find them and more on the Carnival Splendor.

Food
The Carnival Splendor has five main restaurants. The main restaurants are called the gold pearl and the black pearl restaurants. Both are similar in size and menu's however, the Gold pearl benefits from better window views. Both restaurants are decorated in an unmistakeable blend sculpted pearls in the colour of the room. The restaurants are two tiered and are painted in tasteful hues, with huge ceiling lights with representations of strings of pearls spiraling down from the ceiling in huge unturned spires, these cast a warm glow over the diners as they eat.
An alternative to these more formal dining rooms is the Lido Buffet, this is a self serve style buffet with carving stations, Rotisserie, Mongolian stir fry and Indian tandoori. On top of this pizza's are also available either as pre made or made to order if you have a particular favourite. You can also opt for the more exclusive dining room called The Pinnacle Supper Club. Here you can relax in cozy seating under the glass roof. The menu contains some amazing offerings such as Prime aged prime aged porterhouse steaks and Lobster are among menu selections. This restaurant is also reported to have a large selection of fine wines, which, when all added together will make your evening special. The premium restaurant does however, get booked up in advance, and may be fully booked, so it is advisable to book in advance or at the latest, as soon as you board

For those wanting to relax in the most comfortable way, there is always the 24 hour room service, where you can order snacks or a complete meal from the restaurant menu.

Excercise

The Carnival Splendor's Cloud 9 Spa, managed by Steiner, is over 40,000 square feet in size, which makes it one of the largestis one of the largest spas of any cruise ship on any cruise line. The Spa is split over two different floors and offers the normal sort of treatments such as massages, body wraps, facilas and steam rooms, but due to the size and range of facilities, it also offers acupuncture, tooth whitening and water therapies. The water therapies are oe of the highlights of the spa and include a Thalassotherapy Pool and the Thermal Suite.
For those wishing to use the spa every day, there is an option to book an exclusive spa stateroom. These staterooms are located near the spa and have extras like privileges and additional facilities, but it helps avoid dissapointment when certain treatments are booked up. Prices for treatments will be displayed on board when you arrive. For special treatments like the couples massage, tepidarium and oriental steam bath, you are advised to book well in advance as these are known to be booked up within the first couple of days.
The Carnival Splendor's gym workout facilities are included with the cost of the cruise. Full male and female locker room facilities are provided as well as showers so you can clean up and return straight to a lounge rather than back to your cabin first. You can also sign up to some on board classes such as Aerobics and Yoga. These are at an additional cost.

Formal nights

On the Carnival Splendor, there is roughly one formal night a week. Carnival call these evenings elegant nights. Passengers will receive notice with their tickets and will find the elegant night is usually the second or third night into the cruise which is usually a day at sea. The male passengers wear dark suits with ties or a tux, while women will opten wear short dresses or cocktail skirts. If you do not want to dress up, you can dine in the buffet areas on the elegant night. Even on normal nights, the main rstaurants have a smart dress code, rather than jeans and t shirts.

Smoking

Cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.
Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz club.
Smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony. However, Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, will remain an entirely smoke-free environment.
Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their on board account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.
