Celebrity Summit

Celebrity Summit
The Celebrity Summit is a Millennium class cruise ship in the fleet of Celebrity Cruises. Her sister ships are Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Infinity, and Celebrity Millennium. She was launched in 2001 and christened by Paulina Rider Wilhelmsen.

The Celebrity Summit has a dining venue called SS Normandie Restaurant. This restaurant brings a bygone era back to life. Passengers begin to get a feel for how those old days of transatlantic cruising used to be like, with table service and a dine in wine cellar. The decor looks old, well it should be, it actually contains original panels and ornamentation used on the SS Normandie(famous for competing and holding the Blue Riband for the fastest transatlantic crossing at several points during her service career, during which the RMS Queen Mary was main opposition). The items were removed from the SS Normandie by salvage teams when the SS Normandie was being salvaged before being scrapped in October 1946.

Another feature of the ship is the three deck Celebrity Theatre, where shows are performed and movies are shown, plus The Conservatory, located in a glasshouse environment and spreading across a whole foyer. It's a botanical haven with flowers and plants, designed by the world renowned floral designer, Emilio Robba. The ship also runs an enrichment series program, which brings in guest lecturers. This can be on a variety of subjects such as politics, finance and astronomy. Some of these are based aroudn potential sales, such as shore excursions and gold and gemstones, whereas others are purely for education purposes.
