The Celebrity Xpedition is the sole ship of the Xpedition Class. The ship is an alternative to the rest of the fleet of Celebrity Cruise's larger ships, offering more of an adventure in a team rather than as cruise passengers, although you still receive the well known personal attention and luxury you always get from a Celebrity cruise.

The Celebrity xpedition was built and launched in Germany in 2001 as the Sun Bay, before being purchased and refurbished by Celebrity cruises in 2004 and renamed Xpedition and started taking passengers on cruises around the Galapagos Islands to some of the ports visited by Charles Darwin on his expiditions.

The ship herself is Darwin themed with the main restaurant named Darwin's Restaurant and the Beagle Grill after his ship. Even though the ship is small, there are plenty of comforts available to passengers, from the Discovery Lounge, where you can meet your fellow passengers and discuss the days adventures and the Blue Finch Bar, where you can enjoy a cocktail and the sun go down.

The little ship even has a small salon to allow a litle pampering before the evening starts. This is definately an alternative type of cruise with tours to superb little points amongst far flung shores.

Food
The Celebrity Xpedition has two restaurants. Darwin's, which is located on the Marina Deck, and Beagle Grill, located on Vista deck.

Darwin's Restaurant has fine white linen and fine crystal glasses as you would expect from a Celebrity cruise. This is coupled with excellent service from the waiters as they deliver some amazing creations to yor table. The Beagle Grill is named after the ship Charles Darwin sailed on, to reach the islands. Here you can find casual fare and relax . The view from the Beagle grill is also fantastic.

Excercise

Due to the size of the Celebrity Xpedition, there are no outdoor sports of fitness facilties, however, in the lmited space that is available, there is a modest titness centre located on the Sunrise Deck. The fitness centre contains showers, a sauna and a whirlpool. The gym section has large windows overlooking the deck. There are a limited number of machines but these include steppers and stationary cycles.

The Celebrity Xpedition also has a small Spa and Salon, again with limited services. The spa is managed by Steiner and you can obtain a massage or arrange to have a sauna. The Salon offers hairstyling, cutting and colouring to name a few together with some facial treatments.

Formal nights

Due to the nature of the cruise on the Celebrity Xpedition with plenty of outdoor, all weather tours, there ae no formal nights. Passengers remain casual for the entire cruise and shorts and capris are frequently worn to dinner.

Smoking

For all Celebrity ships, smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom or on any stateroom veranda. Cigarette smoking will only be permitted in designated indoor and outdoor areas of the ship, while cigar and pipe smoking will only be permitted in designated outdoor areas. Smoking will not be permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, hallway, elevator or corridor. Violations to this smoking policy will result in a $250 cleaning fee being charged to the guest's onboard account and may also be addressed through Celebrity Cruises' Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises tour products.
