Costa Favolosa

Costa Favolosa
The Costa Favolosa was launched in 2010 and is one of the Concordia class ships operated by Costa Cruises. The Concordia class of ships includes sisters Costa Concordia, Costa Serena, Costa Pacifica together with the Carnival Splendor which was built for parent company, Carnival Cruise Lines. Costa Cruises are also building a further Concordia class ship, named Costa Fascinosa, she is due to enter service in 2012.

The ship interior decorations carry a theme. The on board theme for the Costa Favolosa is based on the ships name Favolosa or fabulous in English. The name of the ship along with her sister in construction was chosen by the public. Therefore to invoke the theme of fabulous, the designers have gone to town to create a truly magical place. As you walk around the ship, looking at the 400 original artworks and over 6000 reproductions, you will get a real sense of how fabulous the decorations are. Cosat Cruises describe the ship as "a castle on the water", and there are certainly right there, Alabaster, Swarovsky crystal, marble and onyx are all used aplenty throughout the ship, giving that luxurious feel. There is a shimmer and a glimmer as light reflects of crystal surfaces, truly magical.
There are a number of restaurants on the Costa Favolosa, the main one is called Duca d'Orléans Restaurant, and is two tiered and has an amzing array of lights, mirrors and sparkling decorations to really let you think you are in some sort of magical room. There are two premium restaurants along with the expected buffet style one too.

For anyone travelling with children, the ship has the Squok Club. An activity based club which allows the children of different ages to mix and make friends and get involved with various fun and games. The club is split into age groups so that the different needs are met. The Squok club even have their own splash pool with a seating area for the parents. The older children have a teen zone with videogames and a jukebox.

As with some of the other ships in the Concordia class, there is a Formula One simulator. Create a challenge between yourselves, friends and of course other ship mates. The simulator is on one of the top decks of the ship and passengers can drive in a Grand Prix race. With cars reaching 200 miles per hour and more. Passengers can choose to record their achievements during the course of their cruise. The ship has placed an age limit of only passengers 16 years of age or older.

The Costa Favolosa has a large spa and exercise centre for those wanting to include a fitness program with their cruise.
The ship also has a great number of bars and lounges, and plenty of open spaces so whatever your preference, you are bound to enjoy your stay on the Costa Favolosa.

Why not visit the Hortensia Theatre for a show, the three level theatre delivers passengers unforgettable shows. The theatre itself is magical enough, but once the stage lights flare and the satge is transformed into a gittering show, you will be whisked away into wonder and awe. Its a must while on board.

Whatever your interests, you will enjoy your cruise on the Costa Favolosa.

The Costa Favolosa has five restaurants. The main restaurant is called Duca d'Orléans Restaurant and has a lovely open feel. Food here is amazing and you will find during your cruise you may get carried away with the large choice from the menu. Unlike other, smaller Costa cruise ships, the Costa Favolosa has two premium restaurants. These are the Club Favolosa and Samsara Restaurants. These carry an additional cost to dine, but with the exclusivity and very high range of decor and the food is amazing and, as it is at the highest point of the ship, and beneath a huge glass dome, the view is one you will not forget. On top of all of this, the premium china and crystal glasses top of that special moment, that you are bound to have here. There is an exception to the rule. If you have paid the premium price to travel in the Samara suites, with special access to the Spa, then the cost is waived in the Samsara as this is the Premium restaurant associated with the Spa and has all the wellbeing healthy options.

There is also the Cà d'Oro Buffet Restaurant. This is a buffet style self service restaurant serving a huge range of international foods and also has a Panini and Sandwich area for those wanting a tasty snack on the go. It's a pleasant informal venue where you can relax and go at your own speed, browse and taste some or all the treats on offer. There is something for everyone on the Costa Favolosa.

Excercise

The Costa Favolosa Samsara Spa is one of the largest Spas at sea. Split over two decks and at over 6,000 square meters, it will astound you. Revel in the luxury of the treatments such as hair styling, beauty treatments, massages, saunas, Turkish baths. There is also the large fitness center. Costa has placed the fitness centre so that passengers enjoying the facilities can also enjoy the surrounding views, with plenty of windows overlooking the front of the ship. There are plenty of machines to assist you in achieving that workout burn along with some classes from trained staff. The swimming pools provide a great way of exercising without getting hot and uncomfortable. The Costa Favolosa has two pools under retractable roof covers, so no matter whatever the weather, you will still be able to enjoy the pool.

For those wanting an informal pace of exercise, theres always the running track or indeed, why not a pleasant stroll around one of the public decks or even the multi purpose sports court, where you may be able to round up a few new ship mates for an informal game of football, or perhaps a new game, the choice is yours.

Formal nights

On the Costa Favolosa, there are two formal nights a week. These consist of a welcoming gala night and a farewell gala night at either end of your cruise. Passengers will see what nights are formal in the on board publications. The male passengers wear dark suits with ties or a tux, while women will opten wear short dresses or cocktail skirts. If you do not want to dress up, you can dine in the buffet area on the formal night. Even on normal nights, the main rstaurants have a smart dress code, rather than jeans and t shirts.

Smoking

On board the Costa Favolosa, smoking is permitted on the open decks, in your cabins, balconies and in designated smoking areas in most public areas. The exceptions to this rule is that all restaurants and show lounges are non-smoking.
